Every Friday I plan to post my Stone Cold Lock of the Week. Hopefully, by following my picks or choosing the exact opposite the readers can make a few bucks.

1) Chargers over Raiders (Raiders are getting 3 points)
People are high on the Raiders after an impressive preseason. However, it is merely preseason and I expect another awful year. Rivers is taking over for qb and going against one of the worse passing defenses in the league I don’t expect him to have any trouble. Plus, the Chargers always have Tomlinson.

2) Denver over St. Louis (Denver is giving 3.5)
St. Louis claims to be focusing on the run this year. I expect this strategy to go out the window as soon as they are down in the first quarter. I think Denver is just a more physical team and will like to make a statement at the beginning of the year.

3) Seattle over Detroit (Seattle is giving 6)
I hate to do it to the lions, but I expect them to lose and lose badly. Seattle may experience a brief hangover due to the superbowl loss, but the Lions have experienced a decade of consistent losing and I see no reason for this to change. Hopefully Ford will relinquish control of the football team as he did with Ford Motors and allow the fans to actually to watch a good football team.

Editor’s Note: I didn’t even have to add in that remark about going opposite of what Lance here comes up with. But, I would recommend it. We certainly don’t ask the audience to trust us often, but we go to law school with the guy. A little trust may go a long way here.

  1. I agree with all of these and actually picked 2 of them to bet on. (I cannot bet against the Lions)- although I do agree with the Seattle pick. Come on, Lance, pull through for me this week. You got a 40 of Bud light if the Denver and San Diego picks come through!

Lance, you are on crack. Sure it was only preseason, but the Raiders are going to eat up Rivers like nobodys business. Let’s put it this way, it is safer to sit in front of Glasser at an MSU Football game then it is for Rivers to go up against the Raiders defense this week. Believe that.

  3. I think everyone is over looking a major facet of the Raiders this year, and of course I’m talking about the second coming of Art Shell. There was a reason this guy was out of football for over a decade and it wasn’t race based despite what anyone might say. He is a TERRIBLE football coach, and that might not be fair so I’ll narrow it down to him being a TERRIBLE GAME coach. The man defined bad clock management while Herm Edwards was still thinking about saving timeouts for next week. Oh and don’t forget how great Shell was at keeping a disciplined team, that’s going to mesh real well with Randy Moss, an unhappy Jerry Porter and Warren Sapp who’s skill has declined to the point its no longer worth putting up with his attitude. Combine that with Aaron Brooks at QB, who recently had a glitch in the new European Madden where the QB throws the ball 35 yards backward named after him, and this is going to be a LONG year for Raiders fans.

  4. Shawn Glasser said:

i can vouch that the Raiders’ D will make me throw up like I’m by Hannah. They are horrible. Rivers is wet behind the ears but the best thing the TB Buccies did was to get rid of the overrated Warren Sapp.

Now if you want to talk about a defense in the game, watch SD pad the sack list with Merriman getting 3 sacks by himself. Brooks is going to be sitting in the pocket all day looking for the big play and getting rocked silly.

Betting on San Diego this week is like betting that Bratsburg will go out early in the poker game or that Morrow will be fucked up by the end of the 6 pack of lite beer.
